How To Enter This Competition

Stage 1 :
  1. Purchase an ECS motherboard - Any model with socket LGA1155 / LGA2011 / AM3+ / FM1 / FM2 from September 20, 2012 - February 28, 2013. An exception is made to those owners have an ECS Golden Board
  2. Register on the ECS MODMEN Modding Competition Micro-site - The participant needs to provide the receipt /invoice showing the purchase date and model name to prove they are a new user during the modding competition.
  3. Submit your work by February 28, 2013 - The mod should be a functioning PC, An Entry ID, name /descript should be shown placed in the photo or Video with mod submitted to proof it is the work of the person who submit it.).
  4. Every participant can submit up to 3 mods (5 pics for each mod) which will be shown on website on February 28, 2013 Make sure all the pics are recognizable, especially the motherboard. This is for us to verify that you meet the minimum requirements. You may also submit a 1 minute YouTube video link for your entry. The following will be required during your submission:
    • Your entry 's name
    • A simple description/concept of your mod
    • 5 pictures of your work (preferably 800 x 600 pixels in .jpg file format, under 500K ) and/or if you choose, a 1 minute video uploaded to YouTube.
    • Images must be of actual PC mod and not renderings or drawings.
  5. Each participant is required to introduce themselves in less than 1000 words and ECS will have the right to use the introduction for promotional purposes.
  6. The top 10 modders are required to share their own mod progress video on the ECS MODMEN Modding Competition Micro-site, Facebook or ECS related channel.
  7. Anyone who does not agree to this contest's terms & conditions or does not satisfy ALL the rules stated on this page will be automatically disqualified.
  8. You must be 18 years or older to participate

Final Competition: at Computex 2013 in Taipei, Taiwan

  1. The top 5 modders' entry needs to be completed and sent to ECS HQ by the end of April 2013 for Final competition .
  2. The top 5 participants will be invited to Taipei to show off their mods at Computex to determine the overall champion. A panel of accredited judges and the audience at Computex will review the winner.
  3. Champion for Final mod : Win NT$ 1,000,000 (approximatelyUS$33,333)
  4. ECS have the right to own Top1 entry
  5. The top 5 finalist must have a Passport valid for travel for through June 2013 at least 1 month before the Computex Event and provide proof submitted to ECS by March, 30 2013.

How The Top Ten MODMEN Finalist Are Scored

These mods will be judged and ranked using 5 factors: 100 points total

  1. Overall design (20 points) determined by judges
  2. Creativity (25points) determined by judges
  3. Technique (20 points) determined by judges
  4. Mod on Motherboard (15 points) determined by judges
  5. Peer evaluation (20 points) determined by the public vote

The public may vote for the top 10 finalists using their e-mail address for 1 vote per day per email. The e-mails will be collected for newsletter, event follow up, promotions and shared with co-sponsors.

Peer evaluation (public vote): how points are given
The range for the score by voting:
Under 10% of total votes by audience: 8 points
11-20% of total votes by audience: 10 points
21-30% of total votes by audience: 12 points
31-40% of total votes by audience: 14 points
41-50 of total votes by audience: 16 points
51-60% of total votes by audience: 18 points
Over 61% of total votes by audience: 20 points

Scoreboard for Top 10 finalists during first round of competition:

  • Voting by audience: 10/11/2012 - 3/5/2013
  • Scoring by judges: 3/6/2013 - 3/12/2013
  • Winner announcement for Top 10 modders and modder with most vote for first round of competition: 3/15/2013 on Micro-site, Facebook and others.
  • ECS will also send an e-mail to the winners to their confirmed address.
  • The Final stage of the modding competition will be held at Computex 2013 in Taipei, Taiwan. The top 5 modders' entry needs to be completed and sent to ECS HQ by the end of April 2013 for Final competition .
  • Final competition: The top 5 participants will be invited to Taipei to show off their mods at Computex to determine the overall champion. A panel of accredited judges and the audience at Computex will review the winner.
  • Champion for Final mod : Win NT$ 1,000,000 (approximatelyUS$33,333) THE MODMEN OF THE YEAR!
  • ECS reserves the right to own Top1 entry

Special Instructions

If you plan to use sponsored components for your mod: (excluding the motherboard)

  • All modding work must be done by you, not the sponsors.
  • You cannot do any advertising for the sponsors or any product in your work (i.e. posting links to online ecommerce sites for the product).

Entry System Requirements

  • Be creative, be passionate, have a good time with ECS motherboards to present your mod in any way
  • Must be built with a ECS Motherboard (Any model with socket LGA1155 / LGA2011 / AM3+ / FM1 / FM2) Pruchased from September 20, 2012 - February 28, 2013. An exception is made to those owners have an ECS Golden Board
  • Must be a functioning computer able to boot properly and run benchmarks applications.

Requirements To Vote

  • User must have a valid email address that has be authenticated by email varification.
  • Limit 5 Unique Votes Per Day
  • You must be 18 years or older to participate
